Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28 1967 and was the child of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. She belongs to the fourth generation of Robertses to live in the Atlanta region beginning from her maternal grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. She was inspired by her father's love in theatre from an early childhood. As a student of Emory University, he performed on stage in various productions around Atlanta. He joined the Air Force in 1953. While working in Biloxi Mississippi, he was cast in a military production that included Betty Lou Bredemus who was an air force member as well. The couple got married in 1955. Their first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. The couple divorced in 1957. the military and Walter was enrolled at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter started work at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter and Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local Saturday morning children's TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies that they funded by themselves. In the following year, they established The Actors and Writers Workshop which was in operation for six years. During this time they were blessed with two additional kids Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in 1965, and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
